Have you recently installed new carpets in your home, and you feel a bit stressed out every time someone walks on them? You don't have to worry too much about getting a stain or two on your new carpets. While a large stain on your carpet is disappointing, it does not have to be permanent. Here are the secrets for removing five tough stains from your carpeting.

Carpet Cleaning Tricks For Five Tough Stains

Spilled drinks. Whether you have children or not, there is a good chance you will wind up with a spilled beverage or two on your carpet. If you find a cola or a beer stain on your carpet, there is a solution. Combine a 1/4 teaspoon of white vinegar or a non-bleach detergent with 32 ounces of water. Mix well and use a cloth to blot the solution onto the stain until clean.

Throw up. Sick pets can turn your beautiful into a messy very quickly. It is important to clean up after a sick animal quick to avoid letting the stain set.  Try a mixture of 1 tablespoon of ammonia and 1 cup of water to clean non-wool carpets. Avoid using this mixture on wool carpets because it can remove your carpet's color. As an alternative, try the same mixture used to treat spilled drinks stains.

Cigarette burns. You can reduce the appearance of cigarette burns in your carpet by using the dull edge of a butter knife to slowly and gently rub the fibers of the carpet where the burn occurred.

Pet urine. Spread a clean cloth over the puddle on your carpet. Press straight down firmly using your shoe. Try to soak up as much urine as your can. Use a spray bottle to cover the area with equal parts of white vinegar and water. Mix 1/2 teaspoon on non-bleach detergent with 32 ounces of water and apply it to the stain. Use a clean towel to blot dry the area.

Candle wax and chewing gum. It may seem impossible to get gum or wax out of your carpeting, but it is actually pretty easy. Use an ice cube to freeze the wax or gum by holding it on the stain for a few minutes. When it is frozen solid, use the back of a spoon to hit the frozen wax or gum. Use a vacuum to get rid of all the pieces.
